There is a debate going on in the Apple iPod Touch forums about whether it is a crime or not to jailbreak your Apple products. Think back a couple of years to when online music sharing (i.e. Kazaa) became a huge phenomenon. I seem to recall that the same debate went on (and is still going on) where it was illegal to download music but nobody really got punished until it was brought into the media spotlight. Then there were a few rare cases when a small number of people were actually arrested.
Back to the iPhone/iTouch jailbreaking debate. User "franciscoandre" said, "...well, at this moment it's impossible to install games legally on your iPod Touch. Your friend probably jailbroke his iPod, which in my opinion is not so interesting and actually illegal."
User "Duddo" fired back, "I am fully aware that "jailbreaking" an iPod Touch maybe foolish, reckless, risky and more than likely to void the warranty, in short, it's a dumb *** thing to do. But when did it become a criminal offence? Has anyone been fined or sent to prison yet?"
