The new Samsung P2 is the newest challenger to iPod, specifically iPod Touch. With a ticket price of $200 or $250, you can get 8 or 16 gigabytes of storage. They have even "one-upped" Apple, by adding an FM tuner and Bluetooth capabilities of up to 30 feet.
The Samsung P2 has a 3-inch widescreen touch panel that reproduces videos and images similarly to the iPod Touch. Samsung has lined up partners for downloadable content, including Rhapsody and Napster for music and CinemaNow for movies. The partnerships are deemed, "MPFreedom".
The size of the P2 is approximately 2 by 4 inches and the weight is just over 3 ounces. The battery is rechargeable with up to 35 hours of audio life and 5 hours of video. Just a couple of days ago, the iPhone was unveiled for sale in the United Kingdom and Germany. Apple is hoping that it will be as successful, if not more successful than in the United States.
The United Kingdom's cell phone carrier is O2 and the German carrier is T-Mobile. By 5 PM on November 9th, Germany had sold more than 10,000 phones in over 700 different stores. O2 declined to say how many phones they sold.
One man in London even waited 26 hours outside to get a chance at an iPhone. Lucky for him, he was the first person to purchase one at that store.
At the end of November, France is supposed to be the next European country selling the iPhone. The carrier will be Orange Wireless.
