Sprint TouchIt looks like Sprint is next in line of companies trying to ride the coat tails of the Apple iPhone. Sprint has announced that the new Sprint Touch will be available starting November 4th - just in time for the holidays. So far, reactions to the Sprint Touch have been mixed. The good: $250 pricetag, Windows Mobile, and it comes with a stylus, which can be very handy at times. The bad: many say the UI is far less intuitive than that of the iPhone, the keypad is difficult to type with, and it lacks Wi-Fi capability  - a big minus. So far it looks like the iPhone is way ahead of the rest of the pack as far as touch screen phones go. Outside of the lower price, the Sprint Touch doesn't seem to offer much in the way of innovation.

Various sources have reported that starting next month unlocked versions of the iPhone will be available in France. These will be the first unlocked iPhones officially approved by Apple.

What's the reason for Apple's change of heart? Apparently France has a law which prohibits the sale of cell phones tied to a certain carrier. This would mean that since Apple had an exclusive agreement with French wireless provider Orange to offer iPhone service, they would be in violation of French Law. It appears Apple only agreed to this arrangement grudgingly and plans for a similar unlocked version of the phone in other countries are unknown at this point. One other note, the unlocked iPhone "will cost more" than the version tied with Orange wireless service according to the International Herald Tribune.

Recently, Apple launched a new TV ad campaign for the iPhone featuring a pilot that claims that his iPhone helped him know where to fly by using weather.com. The man implies that his iPhone is more reliable than ground control. Some real-life pilots and crew are pretty upset about the campaign and are voicing their opinions on FlyerTalk. The biggest problem they have is whether this man is truly part of an airline crew, or if he is just acting.

One man on FlyerTalk even states, "I could do that on my three-year-old Treo." To read the full story, check out C|Net.
